Taghkanic Creek Old Road Society advocates for protection of the Taghkanic Creek Headwaters and Hillsdale's dirt road farm community. In the last two years Town of Hillsdale Highway Superintendent Richard Briggs (D) has proposed paving many of Hillsdale’s last remaining scenic dirt roads in the area of the Taghkanic Creek Headwaters, Pym Farm on Lockwood Road, Skarship Farm on Willowbrook Lane and Honey Dog Farm on Apple Tree Lane. Briggs is receiving outspoken support from Supervisor Mike Dvorchak (D). In 2024, despite outspoken opposition from landowners, Texas Hill Road and a portion of Lockwood Road was widened and paved. Those residents continue to stand in solidarity with their dirt road neighbors.
